The OurCarroll.com "Do you remember when..." Video Contest

We're kicking off the first OurCarroll.com video contest today and you could win a Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera valued at $150. Just submit a 1-4 minute video portraying an event that happened in Carroll County's history. Put it up on OurCarroll.com and let your friends and neighbors in Carroll County vote for the best! Read on for more information about the competition and details about how to enter.

In Brief
Submit one video up to 4 minutes in length with your interpretation of any event that occurred in Carroll's past – either recent or distant. The topics are wide open, so be creative and have fun. You decide!

Here are a few ideas to help get you started:

A childhood memory of a place that no longer exists in Carroll County – you could include still pictures of the place, video of where it used to be, or someone talking about what happened there
A reenactment of a historically significant event that occurred locally like Corbit's Charge
Investigate a history mystery or local legend from days gone by - like the ghost of Cockey's Tavern

Videos must be in .flv, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .mov, .3gp, .mpg, .mpeg, or .mp4 format with a 100 MB limit. They must be submitted to OurCarroll.com before the deadline of September 30, 2010 at 4 pm EST.

The Prizes
First prize is a Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera (valued at $150)! Second place winner will receive a $100 Radio Shack gift card and third place winner gets a $50 Radio Shack gift card. All winning entries will be announced and air on cable channel 19, Carroll Public Access. All entries will receive a Carroll County History Project t-shirt. Winners are chosen by the OurCarroll.com community based on highest number of votes.

Winning videos will premiere at the Carroll County History Project History Symposium on Saturday, October 23rd at the Community Media Center. Additional details will be announced nearer to the deadline.

How to Enter
Visit OurCarroll.com, Carroll County's web portal, and sign up to become a member. (There is no charge for membership.) Upload your video to your member page between now and September 30, 2010. Then join the Video Contest Group & add your video to it. In addition, you must submit the "Do you remember when..." 2010 Video Contest Consent & Release form and a description of 150-350 words explaining what the video is about along with the video.

The Competition
Between October 1 and October 20, 2010 you can browse through all submissions at the "Do you remember when..." group page on OurCarroll.com and vote for your favorites! You must become a member of OurCarroll.com in order to vote. Membership is free and open to the public. Simply add a star rating to your favorite videos - any star rating counts as a vote. Votes will be tallied up at the end of the voting period and the top three vote getters are the winners.

Terms and Conditions
1. Employees, agents, board members and immediate family members of those groups of the Community Media Center of Carroll County, Carroll Community College Television, CETV Channel 21 and CCG 24 are not eligible to participate in the contest.
2. We reserve the right to air your video online and on local cable television, including promotion of future video contests.
3. One prize awarded per person.
4. One prize awarded per video.
5. Copyrighted material may not be used without the permission of the copyright holder.
6. All persons who appear in this video must sign the Consent and Release Form. Persons under 18 years old must have a release signed by a parent or guardian.
7. All video submissions are subject to the rules and policies of the Community Media Center and OurCarroll.com. We reserve the right to reject a submission that violates these rules and policies or for any other reason at our discretion.
